Medicare Webinar and Meeting February 7
Paul Gaspar, member of the PTBA Board of Directors as well as the Independent Physical Therapists of California, has kindly extended an invitation to all PTBA members for what is predicted to be a very informative meeting regarding upcoming Medicate regulations. Paul assures us that it is “information you can actually use” in your practice as opposed to an academic discussion of Medicare changes. Hope you can take advantage of this special invitation. The presentation is called The Real Deal on New Medicare Regulations presented by PTBA’s very own Larry Benz. The meeting will take place on February 7, 2013 [...]

PTBA Position Statement on Payor Policy
[Download a PDF of the Position Statement] It is the position of the Physical Therapy Business Alliance (PTBA) that reliance on current rules and regulations in combination with formulas and methodologies used by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) are inadequate for reimbursement of services provided by physical therapists. Support Statement Physical Therapy, like many other essential providers within the emerging health care paradigm, such as family practice physicians, general internists, and general pediatricians, strongly advocates that current rules and regulations as well as formulas and methodologies used by CMS are no longer reflective of the breadth and depth [...]

April #Physicaltherapy filings
I though the ending of March Madness would have opened up some blogging time but between Springsteen’s tour, Kentucky Derby Festivities, and the #solvept movement, you just have to have your priorities straight. Because my desk is so full of files, I am going to have to separate this post into two parts. But first, by way of announcements, I am looking forward to Manipalooza on May 19th. We are doing the 15 min short talks in the morning followed by a business track option in the afternoon which will include a fun case study about the Patient from Hell. [...]

Just What We Need: More Medicare Rules
I am working through the last few seasons of Breaking Bad and Dexter, when I get notice of the agreement between House and Senate leaders in preventing the 27.4% pending cut to Medicare payments. After reading it (starts on page 82), I no longer ask myself why I am drawn to TV shows about a high school chemistry teacher who makes methamphetamine or one about a moral serial killer. While full vote on this legislation might be as early as today, it is always difficult to filer the consequences of such legislation but here is my stab to decipher… Read [...]
