What is PTBA?
PTBA is an organization of physical therapy businesses, specifically representing private practice physical therapy businesses. The PTBA is a well-recognized and powerful voice of business whose stated core purpose is to fight for free enterprise in environments such as Congress, regulatory agencies, and the all-important court of public opinion.
PTBA believes that bringing together physical therapy businesses-the engine of the physical therapy profession’s growth- will ultimately strengthen each physical therapist’s individual professional endeavors and amplify the collective voice of your physical therapy practices.

Who is eligible to join PTBA?
PTBA members are businesses/entities/organizations/establishments that want to shape the success of independent physical therapy private practice, not individuals.
Is my membership transferable?
The membership stays with the entity that purchased it. If the entity is acquired, the membership transfers to the new entity. If the entity is dissolved, the membership is terminated.
What is the relationship between the PTBA and APTA and/or PPS?
The PTBA works collaboratively with the APTA and PPS to champion the professional interests of physical therapy through sustainable business practices.
What is a non-profit organization?
A non-profit organization has no owners and its purpose is not for private gain of any individual.
What type of non-profit organization is PTBA?
A tax-exempt business league that meets the requirements of IRS Code section 501(c)(6). All PTBA activities are devoted to improving business conditions in the profession of independent physical therapy practice.
Does PTBA pay taxes?
The PTBA is a private, nonprofit, tax-exempt entity. The Internal Revenue Code grants tax-exempt status to non-profit organizations in more than 20 categories under Section 501(c). PTBA has been determined exempt from Federal income tax and is currently not participating in any taxable activities.
